Magento 2 Hyvä

Bespoke Magento 2 storefronts on the Hyvä theme — Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js in place of the old jQuery, Knockout and RequireJS stack, for dramatically lighter pages and top-tier Core Web Vitals out of the box. Designed by our own UX team, built to the standards our engineers learned working on stores for globally recognised brands, and connected to the PIM, ERP and 3PL systems behind your catalogue.

Why your Magento store is slow

It's usually not your hosting, and it's usually not your images. Magento's Luma theme ships with a heavy JavaScript stack — Knockout, RequireJS, jQuery and a large amount of layout XML — that has to download, parse and execute before the page becomes usable. On a mid-range phone on a mobile network, that's seconds of a blank or unresponsive screen. You can spend real money optimising around it. Caching, CDNs, image pipelines, critical CSS. It helps at the margins. But the frontend architecture stays what it is, and mobile Largest Contentful Paint stays above the threshold Google considers good — which is a ranking factor and, more importantly, the point at which measurable numbers of people give up and leave.

Designed here, not bought

Hyvä gives us a clean, fast foundation. What sits on top of it is drawn from scratch for your catalogue, your customers and the way people actually buy from you — wireframes, prototypes, then the finished interface, all from the same team that writes the code. A Hyvä build that ships someone else’s layout wastes most of what Hyvä is for.

What Hyvä changes

Hyvä is a replacement frontend for Magento 2. It removes the Knockout and RequireJS stack and rebuilds the storefront on Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js. It's a frontend change, so your catalogue, orders, customers, pricing rules and admin all stay exactly where they are.

Dramatically less JavaScript

A fraction of the payload on every page, and far less of it blocking — which is where the mobile time goes.

Core Web Vitals within Google's thresholds

LCP, INP and CLS, on properly built stores, measured on real user data rather than a lab score.

Developers can actually work in it

Tailwind and Alpine are mainstream skills. Luma frontend expertise is a shrinking, expensive pool.

No licence gate

The theme itself is open-source, so there's nothing standing between you and a faster store.

A fast store that doesn’t convert is just a fast store

We design the buying journey before anyone opens a code editor: how someone finds the product, what they need to know before they’ll commit, and what’s currently standing between them and checkout. Then we measure it after launch and keep moving it. Performance work and conversion work are the same project.

Three ways in

Every project starts with the £950 audit. It produces the extension and infrastructure picture we price from — and it is credited in full against the project.

Hyvä Frontend Migration — £14,000 to £18,000

Your existing Magento 2 store, with Luma replaced by Hyvä. Six to ten weeks, fixed scope, priced from the extension and theme inventory the audit produces. Right for stores already on a supported Magento version.

Upgrade + Hyvä Migration — £18,000 to £26,000

Both at once: onto a supported Magento release, and onto Hyvä. Eight to fourteen weeks. Costs less than the two projects a year apart. If you're on 2.4.6 or earlier, this is the option that makes financial sense.

Replatform or New Build — from £25,000

Coming from Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 1 or a bespoke system. Twelve to twenty-four weeks. Data migration, integrations, and a Hyvä storefront from the start.

Your catalogue, connected

Storefronts fail on data more often than on design. We connect Magento to the PIM that owns your product information, the ERP that owns stock and pricing, the 3PL that ships it and the CRM that owns the customer — so the store isn’t a separate version of the truth that someone maintains by hand.

£14,000
Starting price for a Hyvä frontend migration, fixed scope, six to ten weeks. Combined with a security upgrade it is £18,000 to £26,000 — less than the two projects a year apart, because staging, regression testing and deployment happen once rather than twice.

What a migration includes

Full design and build of the Hyvä storefront across every template type — home, category, product, cart, checkout, account and CMS. Extension-by-extension compatibility work, using Hyvä-compatible releases or compatibility modules where they exist, and custom work where they don't. Checkout rebuilt and tested against your live payment methods. Core Web Vitals measured before and after, on real user data, and reported honestly. A full-size staging environment built from production data. Regression testing across every revenue-critical journey, by a person. Deployment in a maintenance window you choose, with a written rollback plan. Two weeks of hypercare after launch, included.

Is Hyvä right for you?

It's not magic and we won't pretend it is. A Hyvä storefront built carelessly can still be slow. What Hyvä does is remove the architectural ceiling that makes a genuinely fast Luma store nearly impossible.

    Good fit if

  • Your store is on Magento 2 and failing mobile Core Web Vitals
  • Mobile is where most of your traffic sits and most of your conversion is lost
  • You're already planning a security upgrade — doing both at once is the cheapest it will ever be
  • Your Luma theme is heavily customised and getting expensive to maintain

    Worth a conversation first if

  • ? You're on a small, simple B2C catalogue where Magento may be more platform than you need
  • ? You're planning to replatform away from Magento within the year

Start with the facts about your store

Five days, £950, credited in full against whatever you decide to do next. You'll know your version, your exposure, your real Core Web Vitals, and what each option costs.
